Recycling

  • WASTE RECYCLING
  1. There is an increasing pressure to segregate wastes for processing and reuse into various products due to the increasing costs to landfill, legislation and government targets set to local authorities.
  2. The separation of recyclable fractions from municipal wastes leads to the reduction of the amount of rubbish sent to landfill.
  3. West Coast Environmental Service collects different types of wastes and recycles them, helping to decrease the amount of waste being disposed of at landfill. Among the wastes that we recycle are wood, metals, furniture and plasterboard.

  • WOOD WASTE RECYCLING
  1. Over recent years landfill taxes and transport costs have risen considerably, helping to increase even further the amount of waste wood being recycled. There still remains a lot to be done if Scotland is to achieve its goal of becoming a more sustainable society and West Coast Environmental Services are glad to be part of achieving that goal.
  2. Wood recycling leads to the production of products such as biomass fuel, recycled wood chip or animal bedding. In addition wood recycling helps to save energy and cuts down on the use of natural resources.
  3. Let us know your requirements for wood waste disposal, we’ll be happy to help.

  • METAL WASTE RECYCLING
  1. All metal that is produced for recycling at West Coast Environmental Service Centre is from scrap waste products which are broken into specific metal groups. Bulky metal items are separated in our primary separation process. The tiny fractions are separated in our trommel and picking line section. Thanks to this efficient method we can extract metals for recycling purposes.
  2. Ferrous metals can be recycled with steel being one of the most recycled materials in the world. The most commonly recycled items are containers, cans, automobiles, appliances, and construction materials. Metal recycling saves energy and conserves natural resources.
  3. For more information about your metals disposal requirements, contact us today.

  • FURNITURE WASTE RECYCLING
  1. Larger items of furniture can often cause problems if not disposed of properly, becoming both an eyesore and a hazard.
  2. As a part of its activity, West Coast Environmental Services Centre helps to recycle furniture which in return helps to avoid cutting down new trees. For that reason, recycling furniture is a very responsible alternative to landfill.
  3. Let us know your necessities for furniture waste disposal, we’ll be happy to help.

  • PLASTERBOARD WASTE RECYCLING
You may be aware that the Landfill Directive regulations stipulate that plasterboard waste can only be landfilled in separate, dedicated cells where bio-degradable waste is not present.

There are no landfill sites within many miles of Dunoon with such a facility and to haul and dispose of plasterboard at the nearest suitable landfill would incur high disposal costs is unsustainable.

With this in mind West Coast Environmental Service Centre is pleased to advise that we can provide a practical and cost effective recycling alternative to landfill:
  1. Disposers would segregate all plasterboard waste at source and place in a suitable container provided by us.
  2. The container could be a 1 tonne mini bag, a mini skip or an ordinary 8 cu yard skip dependent on the volume of waste to be removed. · We would uplift the container as required, take it to our yard, bulk up the board and transport in full loads to a suitably licensed recycling facility in Central Scotland.
  3. It is important to remove all contamination from the plasterboard such as wood and tiles however the odd nail is acceptable.
  4. The plasterboard is then processed by the licenced recycling facility to provide reusable material with various uses. We thereby solve the problem for companies who have to dispose of small volumes of plasterboard, reduce the amount of waste going to landfill, facilitate the creation of a reusable material and provide cost savings to participating disposers while fulfilling all Duty of Care and Waste Management requirements.
  5. This service is immediately available and we would be very pleased to have the opportunity to discuss your specific waste plasterboard disposal requirements, agree the most appropriate container and provide a quotation giving detailed rates.
